10 things that I hope to do before I go to sleep tonight......

People are trickling in more and more onto campus, the WOWies are realizing that they aren't the only students who go here, and everybody is bracing for classes on Monday. Since this is my last free day before school starts, I'm trying to figure out what to do with it and, since posting random stuff in lists is so much easier than actually writing something, here is a list of what is probably going to go down today.
  1. Going to tell Paul that he lost the game (sort of looking forward to this.....)
  2. Try to meet up with some people to fix their computer (I love infinite boot cycles)
  3. Looking forward to trying to remember everybody's name, major, dorm, year, and home location (for lack of a better example: "oh, so your Dallas. Are you from Texas?" Or better yet: "have you met Watson? that computer science major from Waldock?")
  4. Continue to work on my wireless driver for ubuntu (I hate drivers.....I hate drivers.....I hate drivers...)
  5. Finish The Gray Wolf and Other Stories by George MacDonald (started it yesterday and it almost made me late for work)
  6. Finish getting eclipse working with OpenGL, C++, and Java on both windows and linux (linux dependent on goal#4 and I still hate drivers)
  7. Write a blog post (stating smaller goal that helps solve the larger goal, are recursive goals even allowed?)
  8. Meet some more WOWies. (haven't met any except the CIS majors and a couple on my wing)
  9. Find a PS2 to USB adapter (need to get that ergonomic keyboard working)
  10. Play my banjo.

What are you all trying to get done before school starts up?

    It's that time of year again . . .

    It's coming. Are you ready?

School time is here, or if you're graduated you're hopefully very busy working in one way or another. This summer, I've been able to perfect an iced coffee that may just be the key to refreshing your busy days this fall - especially if you live somewhere hot like California :) I have been making this without my dear espresso maker just by making either a chemex or a strong brew of frenchpress. So, I think anyone should be able to do it with just a few basic ingredients. The only thing you Masters people will have a hard time with is the syrup, but you can pick a bottle up at Walmart or Costco, or maybe even another grocery store for about 3 bucks or so . . . Am I sensing a coffee reunion in the lounge????

    What you need:
About 1/2 cup Strong coffee - I would recommend either an espresso, chemex, or double to triple strength brewed coffee.

    3/4 cup whole milk

1-1/2 Tablespoons coffee syrup - I'd recommend Torani brand

Between 1/2 to 1 cups Ice cubes - crushed is my favorite, but whole is ok too.

Pour the coffee syrup and whole milk into a cup and mix together. Add the ice and keep the mix cold until your coffee is ready. When your coffee is ready to go, pour over all. You can do a quick mix with a spoon if you want to. If you are serving family members, feel free to take a quick sip to make sure it tastes right (your at your own discretion if you're serving a non-family member :P ) That's it! Super easy and super good! You might have to tweek this or that thing a little to taste, but here's the basics :) Enjoy!

Note: If you use caramel syrup and then drizzle with caramel sauce (like stuff you put on ice cream) you'll have something very similar to a Caramel Machiatto only, no joke, WAY better!
